Finding Her True North with Cindee Moyer, Doll Artist
Finding ones way in this world can be daunting. As young adults we are supposed to know what we want to do with the rest of our lives. But what if we don’t? What if we fall into doing what is expected of us rather than forging ahead in the direction we’d like to go?
Finding our True North isn’t as easy as getting out a compass and following an arrow. This piece represents that search. She wears her own map and the arrow guides her to her very own ‘true north’.
This doll is half cloth and half paper clay. Her legs are sculpted from Paper Clay over a wire armature and attached above the knee to cloth upper legs. Her dress is made from a paper map of Paris and her hair is styled using scrunched shredded paper. She holds a wire ‘compass’ with a distress game spinner.
